With over 50 million dollars in capital projects over the next 5 years, it will be impossible for the rec fee to remain at its current level, even though several bonds have already been paid off (with no reduction in the fee).

This is an important issue and candidates should make known their stand.

Many property owners cannot vote in local elections because their primary residence is elsewhere.  When the rec fee was first “invented”, all property owners could vote.  But the Nevada law changed in 1978 and from that time, a residence requirement precluded many property owners from voting.

Yet the rec fee continues and repayment of bonds is backed by each and every parcel in the district.  It makes no sense to burden property owners with bonds in which they have had no part in the decision.

If I am elected, I will vote against new bonds unless property owners are included in the decision.
