IVGID’s so called transparency, especially in the financial reporting, is actually a veiled attempt to confuse the public.

Even local CPA’s are astonished by the obfuscation in IVGID’s financial reporting.  Terms are never defined and are inconsistent, making it impossible to analyze the volumes of raw data provided in open gov and compare it to IVGID’s monthly “reports”.

They agree that IVGID’s change in reporting structure from enterprise funds to “government” funds was a deceitful ploy to hide the fact that our venues require tremendous subsidies in the form of facility fees.

Sadly, on numerous occasions, the GM has used his GM Corner columns in the Bonanza to spread propaganda, not inform the public (see my column in the Bonanza).

Our current Board has not been successful at requiring staff to provide clear financials and honest communication.

With my background in government Finance, I can recognize many of  the problems and will work with the Board to implement change.
